How We Compile Our Data

ElectricianDB Editorial · Last updated 2026-09-28

Reciprocity data

Sourced from each state's electrical licensing board directly, cross-referenced against NASCLA reciprocity records, and verified via published board publications. Every state page cites its board URL. Contested entries are flagged with a "verify with Board" note rather than presented as settled fact. See our 51-state reciprocity guide.

Certification data

Sourced from the certifying bodies (NABCEP, NETA, Uptime Institute, NFPA, OSHA, BICSI) directly. Costs and prerequisites are verified against the most recent public handbook for each credential. Salary impact claims rest on live job posting evidence from active or archived-within-90-days requisitions with disclosed pay, plus large-sample survey data. See our certifications guide.

Wage and salary data

Priority stack, in order:

  1. BLS OES occupation-level data
  2. Payscale samples with n≥50 respondents
  3. Live job postings with disclosed pay
  4. Named industry surveys with methodology

Aggregate estimator sites (Glassdoor, ZipRecruiter, Salary.com) are used only to corroborate primary data or when quoting specific postings — never as the sole basis for a pay claim. Full rules live in our editorial standards.

Prevailing wage data (upcoming)

Sourced from SAM.gov Davis-Bacon determinations directly, plus state Little Davis-Bacon schedules where applicable. Updated monthly. Coverage will start with the highest-volume federal construction counties and expand from there.

Per diem data (upcoming)

Sourced from GSA per diem rate tables directly. Refreshed annually per the federal fiscal year, with mid-year CONUS/OCONUS updates applied as published.

Live job data (upcoming)

Pulled from partner ATS platforms (iCIMS, Workday, DirectApply), open job boards (Roadtechs, RoadDogJobs, NukeWorker), and federal APIs (USAJobs). Not scraped from Indeed, LinkedIn, or Glassdoor — scraping those platforms violates their terms of service, and we do not build on TOS-violating pipelines.

Data flags policy

Where data is not verifiable to a primary source, we render a "not officially published — verify with source" flag instead of presenting the figure as fact. Current examples:

  • NETA exam fee schedule (not public on netaworld.org)
  • Uptime ATD pass rate (not published)
  • BICSI RCDD passing score (community-reported 78%)

How to report an error

Email info@electriciandc.com with the URL and the specific claim. We respond within 5 business days and correct within 10 if the claim is verified inaccurate, per our correction policy.
